Wow, who dug up that guide for the wiki? I wrote that ages back and there's an entirely new system for running other mods from the folder now...

Why would you need more then 4098 Data Blocks?

I thought the limit was 4096.

Ha ha, I remember those trap brick items.

This does not let idiots like you to enable every Add-On they have for their server. Most of the times you may not even need more than 30 Add-Ons. Before file x/y system began I downloaded a lot of stuff in a server which were not even used. And it was in a minigame (TDM more exactly).
I actually think the limit should actually be lowered. Only people who really want to have a bigger Add-On limit to search for themselves to raise it up.

I disagree on this part.

Someone may want to make a big mod that utilizes many datablocks. Like if someone were to make a huge RPG with more than 5 tiers of weapons.

10 tiers wouldn't get a number of 1000 datablocks in my opinion.

10 tiers also wouldn't be a huge RPG.

I like the limit because it keeps everything stable, but at the same time I need more datablocks to try out some add-ons.

Disable some other add-ons.

I have never had problems with the datablock limit, and I doubt I ever will.

I have reached the Datablock limit too and after that my server was realy laggy.

if you use Kalph's Server Hosting Service then you could have an bigger Datablock limit because these server computers have very much space.

A:The Data Block Limit is something that stops a server running to may addons.
False. Datablocks are bits of memory. Like, say I make a datablock about Kalphiter. It would tell me his name, bl_id, and that he's a troll. When someone connects to my server, they download the information about ALL the datablocks. The limit is to make the loading time less than 15 minutes. That is a lot of information to transfer. It's not just to limit the number of add-ons. What does Badspot care about what stuff you put in your server? He just cares that the game runs at a decent speed.

Personally, I try to keep my datablocks around 2300.

But, I don't see why you would need over 3000 unless it was a huge RPG or something.

Why do noobs bump stuff... The bump limit should be shortened...
