Author Topic: Suggestions for Lego sets  (Read 1267 times)

I'm getting a few lego sets for Christmas and I was wondering on what I should get. Any suggestions?

Edit: I'm looking for something that would be cool to display in my room.

a Shelf

Oh, you said on a shelf.
I'd suggest finding a custom LEGO set, as they don't necessarily make things targeted towards our age group any more.

Well, there's a new Egyptian series called "Mummy's Curse." Comes with some cool new parts and such.

I have a LEGO Nimitz on the entry hall mantle and a LEGO space shuttle in the back room.
Anywho, enough of my bragging, go build a...

Not necessarily on a shelf

A train sounds pretty cool :o

Not necessarily on a shelf
But I still suggest some custom LEGO set.

But I still suggest some custom LEGO set.
By custom set do you mean the ones you build in that 3d lego building simulator?

No, I mean ones thought of and made by other people, who then sell instructions for them.

Such as this.

He was one of the first Google results, so I'm sure he's pretty popular too.
Probably gets the money he deserves.

Yes he's a good bit popular. He attends most LEGO expos that are held in the United States, however his sets are priced incredibly high so unless you want to spend $40 - $400 for a 20 - 900 brick set (One of his sets that I looked at was $345 USD for 822 pieces, that's approx. 42 cents per piece where as most LEGO sets go by 8 to 11 cents per piece in a set. In other words Brickmania is incredibly expensive and LEGO sets sell for less) to display, I would suggest purchasing a LEGO set from a store.

Unlike what Night Fox stated LEGO does sell a good amount of impressive/displayable LEGO sets that aren't childish looking. You just need to know where to look.

Here's a list of sets that I think would look good for a display

7946 - King's Castle - $99.99 USD
10210 - Imperial Flagship - $179.99 USD
Hard to find LEGO sets (Almost everything here is good for display)
5891 - Apple Tree House - 44.99 USD (This one is easy to find at a store)
5892 - Sonic Boom - 59.99 USD (This one is easy to find at a store)
6754 - Family Home - 59.99 USD (Easily found at stores)
Infact, anything from CREATOR looks good on display
7938 - Passenger Train - 129.99 USD (In case you were wondering, yes, this set does come with everything you need to have it whip around on that track (Aside from batteries). You don't need to buy anything extra to get it motorized (Just batteries))
Everything in TECHNIC is great and looks good on display

There's plenty more if you look around on the site, however not every LEGO set is available at stores. LEGO stores sell all LEGO sets, but I'm talking about normal stores such as Walmart and whatnot. If you're curious if there's a LEGO store near you you can always use their Store Locator. However if you live anywhere but America you're pretty much out of luck for finding a LEGO store near you, unless you live in Denmark or something, because LEGO was originated in Denmark.
