Author Topic: Trading Cards - That old Add-On from 2007... I found it.  (Read 19504 times)

Basically you're saying that every card gets the rank it has and every rank below it, which completely ruins the point, what the hell?
Completely ruins the point? What point? How? I'm basing a lot of this on Pokémon cards.

While I really don't know anything about it, I'm generally certain they don't make a super amazing rare card with a pokemon and then a bunch of common cards with that same pokemon where the only difference is what 'type' of card it is.
I'm going to find someone else to make the card data for me.

Shony Pokemon cards are pretty rare. And yes they have shiny Pikachu and common Pikachu.

I never said that I would do any card data, but I could do it if you want.

I don't really think that this is a good idea. If there are only a few "shiny" cards, and only a limited amount of people have it, wouldn't you think they might feel left out?

Our "shiny" cards are silver and gold. They are indeed rarer than the common black cards, but that's the point. It's nice to have a goal of some sorts. Gathering those rarer cards.

Please do not make duplicate cards.

In the original, there were second editions and such.

But even more a problem: I REALLY dislike the idea of having hand made cards for EVERY player... I still would rather it generate from the player's given info somehow, and reduce the urge of the developers to give up.

1. As you see, all we really do is make lists of the players we want to have trading cards with their name, blid, a short description, and the type and rarity of the card, and possibly a picture. While some thought has to go into the process, it's not hardwork at all.
2. None of the Constructed Intelligences I have or have seen can make pictures and descriptions that make the cards seem worthwhile .
3. Developers? You mean the people making the data? Other than that, it's just me, I'm the only scripter working on this.

1 & 2: All I'm saying is the player images could be made by using a ObjectView gui object instead of having each person personally screenshot. Surely you could make the cards more personalized and put that up on the network, but templating it out makes the process a lot less stressful.
3: All involved.

Of course the image in the card is taken manually. That way people can add stuff to the background like their builds and such.

Every... single.... card.... Can't we mix this so we don't get about 100 people and go "Dang, most of them are noobs... I'm tired of this, lets make something more fun!" You can make generated cards for people you don't get to, and change them to be personalized later. :(

Cards don't *need* to have a personal picture.

Okay, I'll start over:

Cards will be produced by the card maker. So no one is excluded, in the meantime, the server will log simple avatar information to make an image and other minor information to forum a generic card of the player. When the maker gets to that person, they can change the information with something more personalized. This way, everyone gets their card even if they haven't received notice yet.

This isn't *see yourself as a card with this new add-on* it's trading cards, a generally small percentage of the players/formers will get cards of their likeness, in these, each card will have it's own type and slight difference in rarity, pretty much based on how important the person making the card data feels the person is. Pretty much.

Oh wow DrenDran, you have totally different views about trading than me. Like. Wow. To me the image is main thing and the rest just extra. Also, to me this is exactly "see yourself as a card with this new add-on" because otherwise this is pretty useless. You're really just trading pieces of code with some crappy image.

Any idiot could take a picture of themselves and edit it in paint to make an image that looks like a trading card.
The point of a trading cards mod is to trade cards.
