Secondlife is a sandbox MMO where you can build things and partake in a virtual economy. Yes, there is a userbase of furries, but there's also a stuff ton of other factions. The controls are a little wonky, sometimes downright laggy, but that really depends on a bunch of factors. You can walk around traditionally with the WASD or click-move like WoW (you right click to interact with things anyway). All users can also fly, which allows them to get around easier, or if you'd like, you can drive vehicles around.
The game is cpu intensive and making complex things like animations is difficult as forget. There's a built-in scripting thing and object creation tool, which in all honesty is pretty intuitive, I enjoyed building things during my play
years ago.
A lot of the users RP quite a bit and treat it literally like a "Second Life", which is understandable because you can move currency out of the game (some users actually make a decent amount of money from SecondLife).
All-in-all, Secondlife
is not the atrocity people make it out to be. It's interesting to say the least, but it's not the greatest thing out there, and only really appeals to a few types of people. I stopped playing because quite simply, it's rather boring if you don't invest in it. There's not many places people can go if they don't own their own parcel of land, and it's especially dull if you don't hang around friends (like all MMO's).
ALSO there was an episode of CSI:NY that involved it.
*Sigh*
I saw this on the news a couple years ago. They said it's some awesome game where people can hang out and ignore real life or something.
I heard of it and I though "Oh, interesting." so I installed it. It's handicapped. You fly around and make buildings and stuff.
It's like AoT, except all you do is walk around and talk.
Reviews like this come from people who didn't take the time to actually understand how to play the game or how things work. It's nothing like AoT, that was the dumbest comparison I've ever heard.
I did try to install it, but then after realizing you had to have a cellphone, I decided it would be better not to.
I don't even have a cellphone, nor am I interested in getting one.
Also, the game looks stupid now that I see you can dress up like that. I didn't know you could.
also what is IMVU?
Due to the game being able to actually export cash to bank accounts or paypal, they have strict identification measures.
How you don't own a cellphone in 2010 is beyond me.
Also IMVU is a 3D chatroom program.
