Author Topic: (The Surface) Wasteland Roleplay - You know you want to click!  (Read 12679 times)

In 2046, the rapidly growing energy crCIA finally broke out into war. After about 2 days of nuclear exchange, nothing was left of the world. Except for the Bottom Feeders, or so they call themselves. You see, this civilization went underground. I don't mean they dug a hole and lived there, they went into old mines, caves, and eventually carved out a hollow Earth after about 400 years. The year is now 2489, but no one knows this. Almost no one knows anything down there. While they built magnificent buildings out of stone and carved them into walls, most knowledge of everything else was lost in the folds of time. But this carved out metropolis with about 200,000 people is now known only as "The Citadel (NOT a half-life 2 reference, NOPE, none here)."

A group of explorers decided it was time to escape the citadel, and soon thereafter they discovered the surface. This was a strange place, with green plants growing everywhere, and in the distance they could see buildings, but these were not made of stone. Could this be the holy land that the preacher has been talking about?

These were not your ordinary trucks. Back in 2032, the need for a better fuel was massive. So, after years of testing, the scientist found out something prime for a combustion engine: Sodium Hydrochloridiane. The only drawback is it is delivered in cores and is explosive once exposed to oxygen. That is the only reason the ancient trucks are still running and did not run out of fuel.

Except it takes fossil fuels to make these vehicles, so expect VERY few.

Yellow: Federation of the Gulf
Red: Hunton/Sacramento
Green: RNE outposts
Pink: Missile Silo
Orange Xs: known nuclear bomb hits

Orange: Hunton
Purple: Citadel Entrance
Green: Airstrip
Black: Trade routes

RULES:

1. This is a wasteland. There are vehicles, but I mean, there aren't super tanks or guns under rocks or anything. Which leads me to rule 2..

2. Weapons are scarce. You can't start off with an assault rifle, or an auto shotty. You also don't have 800 rounds of ammo.

3. Please act realistically. Don't run around jumping off cliffs, you will die. You are trying to survive a harsh, unforgiving wasteland.

You will now assume the role of the explorers, or just anyone from the story.

Here is the format:

This is a roleplay, and I will make a picture of the citadel and surrounding areas.

You will only get on the blacklist if you do not follow the rules repeatedly after being warned many times.

BLACKLIST:
None so far. Good.

"Hello, my fellow Citadelians!", the king said, standing on the balcony, "Our explorers have found the holy land!" A wild, loud, cheer exploded from the crowd. "We are sending them back to find the ideal living place, so we can escape from this horrid, and wretched place!"

I had heard enough from the king. One of my friends died from swimming. He got really sick the next day, and no doctor could do anything about it. "Some holy land", I thought to myself. I met up with the group of explorers and sat on a bench next to the doctor.

Okay, you could draw images of our travels I guess. Kiddeh is already on a picture of The Citadel, though.

My hands clasped my head as I tried to shake away my emotions. I couldn't save him, I had never seen an infection like that before. God dammit! My eyes wander towards Paul and all I can feel is guilt for not being able to save his friend. "I can't go back out there..." I murmur to myself as I begin to drift away in my self pity.

Actually, Kiddeh got lazy and doesn't want to draw it.  :panda:

I grew up with my friend. I just can't beleive he is dead. TO HELL WITH THE HOLY LAND. I wish I never discovered it! Now the king is FORCING us to make an excursion back up there! I can't imagine who's life the holy land is going to claim next, nor do I want to.

The image flashes by my eyes every few seconds. All the sores on his body. The vomiting, oh it was awful! It was like he was poisoned by something horrid!
I close my eyes and begin climbing the slope of the pathway with the rest of the caravan.

The bandits saw these people come out of the cave. They watched one of them swim in the radioactive pond. They all laughed because they knew he was going to die. The bandit without a shirt rolled the dice. "FROGS!" He shouted, "FORK IT OVER!" one of the bandits reached down as if to get the money, but instead reached for his rifle.

The explorers heard a loud BANG, and it frightened them. They told Harold to get out of the water and to get back into the cave.

I immediately shield my eyes as we emerge from the Citadel from the intense light. I begin to wrap a piece shredded cloth around my mouth as so do the others. We all agreed to do so since I don't have the knowledge to treat outside infections so we're taking extreme caution. I feel the heaviness of the handgun in my holster. Better safe than sorry. That sound that we heard at the cave got us all spooked. I turn to Paul and say, "Well, lead on."

"Don't touch any water, we don't want a repeat of last time." I said. Everyone else agreed in unison, and I saw something in Keone's hands. It was a rusted, small, piece of shiny material. "What's that?" I asked as I pointed to his gun. "I found it out here, watch what it does when I pull on the button thing", He replied. It blew fire out the front and it put a chip in the rock. I drew back and gawked at the weapon he had in his hand. With this we could conquer anything out here!

The group marched onward, toward a cluster of gray buildings with newfound confidence. I still think of the king sitting in his throne and getting fatter by the second, blind to the fact that this is no holy land.

We marched on for what seemed like hours until the moon was high above. We were close to the buildings but we were exhausted. "Let's set-up camp here. We'll get to the buildings by tomorrow." I propose, exhaling after every word, as I point towards an isolated building that was surrounded by strange pump mechanisms. Everyone nods in approval and we make our way into the abandoned building. At least so we thought. Suddenly we're surrounded by people, weapons like mine except bigger are trained on us. "Give us your supplies and we won't have any issues." one of the men barks at us as he pulls back a lever on his weapon that emits a loud click. I start to reach for my for my gun and suddenly I feel an immense pain in my leg. The man had shot me. I groan as I try to grip my weapon again and another large bang erupts and the ground next to me explodes into chunks of dirt. Everything begins to darken and I fall into a state of unconscious.

I was sitting inside of the water facility when these men barge right in. I said: "Give us your supplies and we wont have any issues." One of the men next to me roosters his gun and shoots the doctor man in the leg.

How can there be such light?  This makes no sense.  I've never seen the likes of it before.  All my time working in that smoke filled room, the fire lapping hungrily at the air, basking the room in a hazy glow, and I've never come by such light as this.  The workshop never had light like this.  Even that one time when a coal shot out of the bellows and the walls and floor were caught aflame, the light was not as intense as this.  I followed Paul and the rest of the group.  If I could get my hands on Keone's metal slingshot, I could figure it out.  Look at the insides, make more.  Make better ones too.  Anyhow, I've got to keep pace.  Falling back won't be allowed, I'm sure.

My hands in the air, I marvel at the weapons they had in their hands. I then hear a shot and Keone falls to the ground. I scramble over to him but I hear a BANG and the concrete exploded next to me, and I jumped to the ground. "He needs medical attention!" I shouted, "Don't shoot! NO!" The man who shot him reaches his hand out as if to take stuff from me, but I take the gun from Keone's holster and I pull the trigger.

The little man shot one of the other men! I point my rifle at him inbetween the eyes. "Drop it!" I say. The man drops the gun. "Give it to me now or I will kill you!" I say. He hands me the gun. I kick him in the forehead, knocking him unconsious. The other riflemen shoot the remaining men with dart guns.

My eyes flicker open and everything seems to have a red tint to it. It's as if someone put a red filter in front of my face. I grit my teeth as I look at my leg. I then look around and I see the other people with their hands on their heads with Paul aiming my gun at them. I look over and I see one of the explorers tending to my leg with my first aid kit. Although his intentions were good, he was making it worse than better with his lack of experience. I gently push him away and I begin to tend to my own injury. I notice a piece of metal lodged into my leg. I reach over and yank it out as I clasp my other hand over my mouth to stop myself from yelling. I examine the piece of metal and I become perplexed with its aerodynamic design. "So that's how they work." I whisper to myself. The pain then pulls me back to my main task and I begin to wrap my leg in a bandage. I lean back and I manage to sputter out, "Now what?"

I woke up and my head was throbbing. I looked over and saw the men playing a game of cards, my favorite game as a kid. One of them looked back and I shut my eyes to pretend I was unconscious. One of them got up and walked over to the doctor. I could hear the shuffling of his feet. There was a small weapon near me. I reached for it but a boot stepped on my wrist. "I think you have done enough damage here." the man said, and picked up the gun. Keone appeared to be fine from the looks of it. He was sitting up with another explorer on the ground. "Enjoy your nap?" Keone said. He used the bandages from his aid kit to patch his leg up. I had no clue where I was, but I knew that we had to get out of here.

I stood up. "Where are the other explorers?" I asked. The man turned around and spat on me.

I could tell these were not friendly people.

Back at The Citadel

"Civil unrest! Despair! Crime levels skyrocketing! We cannot have this!" The king announced on his balcony. Life seemed pretty good from his point of view. The crowd was now shouting a chant, "Move on! to the Holy Land!"

Of course the fat king does not want to leave his perfect life to help out and work! "That's preposterous! They should be worshiping me, not defacing my palace!" The king thought to himself.

"We will remain here until the explorers come back!" which he was well aware of the impossibility of the explorers coming back. He chuckled to himself.

I watch as one of my fellow "roommates" greets our new neighbors with a not-so-warm welcome. Sighing, I rolled my eyes. Had these men no better thing to do than beat up people? Getting up from my cool corner, I ask the new people how they got here and if they needed help with anything.
