I'd get a bunch of people and start my own country, founded on principals outlines in the US Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights.
Government:
A republic, elected officials. Non-partisan (I believe factions are the downfall of a nation). Officials should probably be stacked at the beginning, to be primarily atheist/adeist/agnostic (the founding fathers were adeist). The government exists to serve and protect the people.
Religion:
Freedom to practice religion on private property. Churches, Mosques, Temples etc. are taxed normally and not exempt from the law. Religion has no part in the government, at all.
Speech:
Freedom of speech, period. No censorship of any type of media, except in the realm of research not being shown publicly (have some class people).
Relationships:
Gay marriage is of course allowed. Love is not to be constricted by the government or ridiculous religious ideology. It's a beautiful thing, the love between two persons, and it is morally corrupt to try to stop it.
Military:
It is necessary to defend our country from oppressors, but we will not engage in Vietnam/Iraq conflicts, ever. Period. We will only engage in war as a measure of self-defense, not attrition, conquest, or revenge. Peace is the primary goal, we don't want bloodshed.
Economy:
Primarily Capitalist, with some government involvement in base things like providing free health care.
Death sentence:
No death sentence. It is wrong to kill someone who cannot defend themselves. The worst of society will be held in a prison/rehabilitation center. Prisoners will, however, have the option to partake in deathmatch, in a public Colosseum. No man will be forced to fight, and the fight ends when one man gives up (or gets knocked out or killed). The prisoner would be fighting for a shorter sentence or monetary gain, possibly extradition (?).
Drugs:
Drugs are never illegal to posses and consume. Unauthorized selling of drugs, however is. The drug trade will be a license deal (the danger in the drug trade comes from it being illegal; drug lords put dangerous chemicals in their drugs. With government intervention, it can be a much safer deal). No selling any drug to people under 18, except for Marijuana which is 16. Smoking in public is banned. Being intoxicated in public is illegal (this stems from the whole "what you put into your own body is your responsibility until it effects other people), except in establishments that specifically permit types of intoxication, such as THC bars.
My two cents.
