Most of that isn't even proven, either.
They may NOT know about these laws.
They probably won't even speak the same language as us.

Another point to prove.
They may not be labeled like humans.
Arms, legs, etc.

They could be COMPLETELY different.
Well stuff. they could be microscopic beings on another planet, and they'd still be classified as aliens.
Finding water on another planet doesn't mean stuff, if we were to find aliens, they may not NEED water as a resource. They might LIVE in the poisonous gas clouds of [insert planet here]. We can never know until it is proven.

My consciousness is a series of electrical impulses which, upon my physical death, will cease. My consciousness will disappear with those impulses just like the data in your RAM when the power goes out. Then my body will decompose and eventually become nutrients to nurture new life, so in a way I believe in reincarnation.

If these things weren't so well proven as they are, I'd believe that when I die I'd go to Asgard to await Ragnarok. Because seriously, Norse mythology is the loving best thing ever.

Exactly as he said.
(well said by the way)
The only advantage we have is... well, we aren't much different than animals really.
Animals communicate with eachother, but cannot speak directly to humans and expect us to understand.
They eat, we eat. We have so much in common.
Our only big difference is thumbs and a brain that works like ours.
But this brain isn't really an advantage when it comes to death, because it just makes us keep guessing, when the only logical explanation is ceasing to exist. We refuse to believe death is not existing. because humans just want to see their family or their friends again in some fictional place that gives us everything we could ever want, and more. but,(there is a picture in another thread, i'll go grab it) Religion makes people believe EVERYTHING.
EDIT: Heres the picture.

What happens to you after you die.
What does the forum think will happen to you after you die.

Personally, i think it's just lights out, or you start a new life, but with absolutely no memory of the previous.

But what happens to your thoughts? Your memory? What do you do for eternity?

Put nicely, your memory stays in your body but you never get to use it, since you are dead.
What do you do for eternity? sit there and decompose. once that is done you won't do anything.

Oh wow, that's really hard to put nicely :/

I will be turned into ashes and will force myself down the President's throat.

I'm not offended or hurt by any of this.

I'd like to believe it continues on, but i just proved points as to why that couldn't happen.
It's very hard to explain what will happen to your existence, as you always still exist, just not alive.
Once you're decomposed your existence is changed to energy for whatever ate you.
The food chain applies to people too.

As the law of conservation of energy or whatsitcalled states, "energy is neither created nor destroyed, but it is changed."

Do minds (not brains) and thoughts count as energy?

This might have been said already. You remember what it was like before you were born? Death is just like that.

Those are stored in the mind, when you die, your mind no longer works, therefore your thoughts are no longer existing.

Thoughts don't count as energy.
But the mind (not brain) is a damn hard topic to think about.

This.

Consciousness is nothing more than electrical signals in your brain. No electrical signals (death), no consciousness.

I try to remember what it was like, but the thing is, your mind wasn't active before that time, therefore remembering anything around that time is impossible.

I do not remember this :P
