As odd as it may seem to make a drama topic on one's own server, hear me out.
When I originally started hosting my server on my desktop, it was fun, with a few intelligible people who would join. There was a 40% chance that someone randomly would be unable to join, and we would IRC possible solutions to no avail.
As time progressed, my desktop broke and I got a laptop. I started hosting on that with significant connection improvements (20%). Then, I started hosting a Trench Warfare server, then a Lowgrav Trench Warfare, and finally a Lava Trench Warfare. (Before someone asks, that's down until I finish spreading lava.)
A while ago, while still hosting the Lava Trench Warfare, I got a dedicated server. The server, being a Trench Warfare, has picked up a certain number of newbs/noobs both that regularly join, which begins to wear on my nerves. As time goes on, this trend continues, along with a decrease in logicality of certain bans I made.
Recently, I changed it to an Infinite Mining for a short period of time, then a freebuild. I noticed that I spent about a third of my time clearing idiotic spam, so I put the /clearSpamFunction on a fifteen second loop. Now I spend about a third of my time telling idiots how to not have their bricks cleared.
I can't even build on my own server anymore, and it's to the point where I've made Sithless the host-in-acting. Although I don't have any plans to take the server down directly, I'm most certainly not going to be putting it back up if and when it does crash again.
Discuss/rant about how bad my server/its administration is.
