Author Topic: New laptop, wrong name.  (Read 1223 times)

For Christmas I got a new laptop and since my mom bought it, its name was Jonna. I've changed all of the computer settings so that the name is Toast now, but it still shows Jonna at C:\Users. How do I fix this?

You can't be serious.

Control Panel > User Accounts > Change your account name
At least on Vista.

Username is different from computer name.

But Jonna is a nice name...

lol Jonna
this is a woman right
Jon-Jonna i guess. weird. never heard that one before.

I already did that. Trying to insult my intelligence. How dare you.

I named my computer Poopstain

The best thing to do would be to create another account, give it admin, then revoke the admin of the Jonna account and delete it.

huh? the only way to setup the computes name is to power it on for the first time...if it was a NEW laptop it wouldnt have a name set yet, so youre saying ur mom used your x-mas present before she gave it to you?

Or it's USED!
Eeww, non new stuff!

Ohey there stranger. You must be new!
?

Well you need to explain this better because if you're as intelligent as you claim there must be more than "this folder isn't named correctly."

The people I ordered it from set it up I guess.

I think reinstalling the OS is the only way to change all the references to the old name?
