I didn't like how everything was so monotone. On the piece I posted a little earlier, I used different colours instead of just a darker shade, or even a shade of the same colour.

No texture to the hair, no colourful highlights.

Most of all I didn't like how none of the colours were actually chosen to fit well, but an art teacher at my school, despite the fact I'm not an art student, gave me a lot of advice on what to do, so I tried to apply that advice.

I think it's more the fact that the gun he's holding has incredibly awkward handle placement and he has to put his fingers in an unnatural position to grasp it properly

I think you may have never held a gun before, because they aren't peashooters like in roosterodooty or counter strike. My hands aren't small. My friend held it, same sized hands.
