Because it's cute <3

Well mostly because you're not supposed to be able to see Mew's individual hairs because they're so tiny, and a matte finish where I couldn't draw fur would be too boring.

frankly when something is too shiny it gets to look viscous and slimy; you basically have a mew fresh out the wom- test tube there

Mew's hair is so fine and thin, it can only be seen under a microscope.

I mean besides a really boring smooth, matte finish.
