Well it's an 8 string design, the body will feel "small", but the only part that really needs filling out is the bottom half of the body.

You don't worry about acoustics unless you have a chambered body like Strandberg guitars. After that you consider woods like Walnut, Mahogany, Maple, etc for tonality such as warmness, brightness, depth of certain ranges...
