I used to believe in god, but when I figured out all this stuff in science, it made me start believing in the scientific theories. Yes I am an Atheist, but I don't care if you guys believe in an Imaginary Person(People, depending on your religion) in the sky.

No really, I tolerate everyone's religion, but it just bothers me when people bring god up in my face when I say Im an Atheist.

Everything out there is just a complete illusion, the real world is actually our mind (in my belief) :)

Don't act like you're the only one who knows who David Hume is.

Also, are you guys really this stupid to continue feeding the troll?  Can we all just shut up now?

The only real evidence I see here besides "OH HURP DERP GOD DOESNT DO ANYTHING WHEN I ASK HIM, HES NOT REAL" and "IF GOD EXISTED THE WORLD WOULD BE PERFECT" is the evidence of similarities in religions between Pre-Christ Judaism and whatever the hell you label belief in the Egyptian Gods as.

Now, this is somewhat convincing evidence that the idea that the character everyone knows as Christ could just be a re representation of Horus the sun god or whatever Egyptian god came down to earth and gathered disciples and stuff. But in reality, both of these stories could have mistranslations and both turn out to be completely different, who knows what really went down.

I believe in Christianity because to me, it makes a bit more sense to me than most other religions and beliefs. I also see it as a Philosophy to imitate Christ as Erasmus said, that I use to keep my life in check, and that I should be kind and caring to other people and not be a selfish starfish. I also think I am becoming more of a deist by the day as I am learning about the enlightenment and the new social philosophies developed then, I just believe God may have been just like "forget it" after he gave John the vision of the Revelation and left us to our own wits and free-will to see if we decide to believe in him or not.

If God doesn't exist, and I still believe in him, I wouldn't lose anything if I died, and if he actually did according to the bible, I would have a decent afterlife. Also, if I didn't believe in him, and he didn't exist, I would lose nothing, but if he did exist, I would be screwed according to the bible. Now, I just pulled Pascal's wager here for no reason, But what I'm trying to say is that a good Christian would be somewhat tolerant and open-minded and not extremist while not being afraid to examine his religion and have his own rational yet not completely human based interpretation of it.

I should stop before I ramble more.

You have not read even a fraction of the bible, let alone any other bible or script from any other religion.
Even reading about 3 pages of the bible was enough to completely turn me off religions.
I'd be happier dead and nowhere then in heaven doing forget all.

In my opinion, you would be screwed if you go to either heaven or hell. You cannot spend forever doing anything, as it would drive you insane. Yeah, the first 500 years might be ok, but you'd have enough of it after that much time. I would much prefer not exist after my time on earth. ~75 years is more then enough time to live your life and do what you want.

Being so, I will be a fifth of the way through my supposed life this year..

You really should. Your beleifs are yours, and I respect them, but I can still argue my beleifs to you, and shall do so.

Apparently there are similar characters across many religions, not just Christianity and Egyptian Paganism. However, I don't know them off the top of my head. As well, the story of Christ and Horus is apparently describing, if I remember correctly, the cycle of the winter solstice as well as other astronomical events. Just thought I'd note that.

On topic, troll or otherwise, OP is an idiot.

Actually, no, from what I can remember, Skele is god.

Well, there is always that theory, or rather, rumour.

Believe it or not I do read the bible. I just see the religion as a bit more organized and stable than other beliefs such as Islam where the teachings somehow go from mostly peaceful messages in the begging of Qur'an then somehow goes to later messages of "being a martyr" in war all by the same 1 author, although there may be somewhat logical unknown reasons for this.

Now, I know there are so called "contradictions" in the Christian bible as well, and you can list them, but most of these can be reasoned. No religion is completely stable and logical if you look at it from a completely rational view. Trust me, I know most of the bible, and just because I interpret differently from you doesn't mean I didn't read it at all.

Still, OP is a stupid for even making this topic just so he can take out all of his depression out on religion.

as much as i love when christcigarettes rage in defense. this topic was a little unnecessary lol.

I ain't even mad.

This is why in my opinion they are all stupid. For something as important as a "god" they sure were sloppy.

I consider myself lucky to be without religion, to not be tied down by these silly beliefs. To be able to live a happy life without worrying if I'd go to heaven or hell (Btw hell is an incredibly stupid concept when you think about it). And most of all to be able to learn the truth behind things without doubt or denial.

I hate you now deathcat. >:'
