The only real evidence I see here besides "OH HURP DERP GOD DOESNT DO ANYTHING WHEN I ASK HIM, HES NOT REAL" and "IF GOD EXISTED THE WORLD WOULD BE PERFECT" is the evidence of similarities in religions between Pre-Christ Judaism and whatever the hell you label belief in the Egyptian Gods as.
Now, this is somewhat convincing evidence that the idea that the character everyone knows as Christ could just be a re representation of Horus the sun god or whatever Egyptian god came down to earth and gathered disciples and stuff. But in reality, both of these stories could have mistranslations and both turn out to be completely different, who knows what really went down.
I believe in Christianity because to me, it makes a bit more sense to me than most other religions and beliefs. I also see it as a Philosophy to imitate Christ as Erasmus said, that I use to keep my life in check, and that I should be kind and caring to other people and not be a selfish starfish. I also think I am becoming more of a deist by the day as I am learning about the enlightenment and the new social philosophies developed then, I just believe God may have been just like "forget it" after he gave John the vision of the Revelation and left us to our own wits and free-will to see if we decide to believe in him or not.
If God doesn't exist, and I still believe in him, I wouldn't lose anything if I died, and if he actually did according to the bible, I would have a decent afterlife. Also, if I didn't believe in him, and he didn't exist, I would lose nothing, but if he did exist, I would be screwed according to the bible. Now, I just pulled Pascal's wager here for no reason, But what I'm trying to say is that a good Christian would be somewhat tolerant and open-minded and not extremist while not being afraid to examine his religion and have his own rational yet not completely human based interpretation of it.
I should stop before I ramble more.
