Author Topic: New PC Build - First Build  (Read 1265 times)

Hello everyone,

I'm finally getting ready for a move from a really old pre-built Compaq Presario, to a custom build that I plan to start on very soon. I have everything I wish to put into this computer picked out. I've already compared a couple different websites with the website I am buying from (http://www.tigerdirect.com). I'd really like some feedback on the components I'm going to buy. If you think something should be changed or more money should be put towards something, I'm open to all recommendations.

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500
Motherboard: Intel DH67CL
RAM: Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1333C9
Hard-Drive: Western Digital WD5000AAKS
DVD Writer: Lite-On IHAS124-04
Power Supply: Coolmax 600-Watt
Mid-Tower Case: NZXT Tempest Evo
Video Card: Asus EN460DIRECTCUTOP/2DI GeForce GTX 460

As time progresses, I do plan to buy more RAM. Right now, with my budget, I can only afford 4GB.

Anything not listed, I already have smart-ass. Instead of ranting about what isn't on here, why don't you actually listen to the topic and give me some input that's some what actually beneficial to me.

Sound Card? Network card? OS?

Yeah.
You kinda need those.
You know, if you're going to, I don't know.
Do anything.

Totally. Without an OS you can't do stuff on a computer.

You don't know anything at all about computers

Also you shouldn't really go with an intel mobo

Sound card and network card or useless, don't be stupid.

I'll admit, there isn't much that I would suggest changing. You might want to spend the extra $50 and get the 6850, though. The processor is quite powerful compared to the 460. You might also want to look into getting another 2 or 4gb of ram. 4 is generally mainstream nowadays.

If you want sound, you need a Sound Card. If you want internet... You NEED a wireless card.

Edit: You're motherboard has an integrated...

Are you really that stupid? Or are you just loving with us

Good luck doing stuff without an OS.

Are you loving handicapped or something? What kind of motherboard that came out in the last 10 years didn't have integrated sound or network?! NONE OF THEM. AND OH YEAH! LETS JUST USE THE HORRIBLE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS THAT CAME WITH THE MOTHERBOARD, GREAT IDEA HALO!

Of course you need a loving operating system don't be stupid.

Sound Card? Network card? OS?
them are integrated into motherboards!!!!
*slaps

and its likely he has an OS.
you dont need to rebuy operating systems just because you have new hardware.

Lol at the kiddies thinking they know about computer hardware.

Onboard sound is better than the stuff Creative puts out now anyway. If you really need a sound card (and almost everyone doesn't) Asus is the way to go.

the only time a sound card would ever be needed, is if you had like thousand dollar speakers hooked up. and you were doing some serious sound stuff.
and the standard surround sound wasnt good enough.
and even then, the sound card would be some high end stuff you will never see on newegg.

but all motherboards support at least 10.1 surround sound, basically as good as is ever possibly needed.

Soundcards are only useful for audiophiles and people with surround sound systems more expensive than their computers.

If you want sound, you need a Sound Card. If you want internet... You NEED a wireless card.

You don't need a wireless card. Ever heard of Ethernet? :I
And sound + Ethernet ports are integrated in most to all motherboards.
