Author Topic: Why do people save images as JPEG?  (Read 2316 times)

It's irritating that people use a low-quality image format all the time!

I don't understand. It makes your images look like crap, and it's even more so annoying when you save an image I drew and you save it as a JPEG and then post it and expect me to edit it (Kind of like that land-of-us thing).

JPEG is also annoying because it can't be transparent.

So discuss your hatred for JPEG and JPEG artifacts

I save as PNGs and upload as JPEGs.
JPEGs usually don't look bad, but yeah they're a bitch to edit.

I save as PNGs because I was told off for having a JPEG avatar

JPEG has better compression but sacrifices quality.

Yes, saving those kilobytes for more pointless images. You'd have to have a 100MB hard drive to care about image size msot of the time

apparently a friend on blockland cant take snapshots because they have 5MB HD space left.

lol

You know if you use a real image editing program you can change the compression level and save it as a jpeg without that annoying degrading of quality.

Always PNG. Never JPEG.
