It might be worth noting that Besustine has a small factory and small naval academy, which slightly boost pilot/crew and money made per turn. Argoshka has a Shipyard Class B, which can produce Frigates and Fighters, as well as a medium factory.
In that case, lets just take argoshka

hold on guys, I'm modding the game a bit to make the flagships have more hp shield and armor bonuses, and modding a pd module so that it's actually effective.


Ok, game modding maintenance and upgrades complete. Your flagships now have a hefty 50% bonus to health, armor, and shields. Also, there is a new ship you'll all be getting, it's a big ugly point-defense rabbit cruiser. Should be able to shoot down about half of the incoming missiles from missile blocks. Still can't hit plasma torps though.

Attacking Argoshka. With three fleets. There's an anomaly that reduces shield power by 25%, so expect more losses.
Also, maintenance costs at this time are so high that we won't be getting any fleet expansions soon. Hell, we may not be able to even replace our losses very easily.

I might also add that if you're going to use skirmishers, use a lot of them. They are almost useless on their own. You guys have so many combat frigates, but almost no skirmishers.


ANYWAY. The fight.

Holy crap that was actually a really cool battle.
Our tiny and nimble fighters beat the crap out of their bigass ugly ones before they even got close to the battlegroup (fig. a), then went straight to the back of the enemy group, taking out the damage-dealing cruisers. By the time the combat frigates got there, there was almost nothing left but a couple of anti-missile cruisers left to fight (fig. b).

Only losses was probably 2 fighter squadrons at the most, and both skirmishers. I guess you guys don't get it, so I'll spell it out as clearly as possible.
SKIRMISHERS ARE STRENGTH IN NUMBERS. If you're going to only pick up one or two, then just skip it and get a combat frigate.

CHANGE ALL MY FRIGATES TO SKIRMISHERS
