This is embarrassing, but I seem to have forgotten how to make a transparent image...

If anyone knows how, please do tell me.  :cookieMonster:

Open Paint.net.
Select the background with the magic wand.
Press delete.
Save as a PNG.

There you go.
By the way Paint.net is free so while you're at it resize your avatar since I can guarantee that's what you're trying to do.

What image editor do you use?

I was using default paint, I forgot about paint.net

background needs to be alpha, this is key

In GIMP hit layer > transparency > add alpha channel and then use magic wand, select what you want trans, press delete

Well, now at least it isn't black, but I still need Transparency... How can I change a JPEG into a GIMP?

Open in GIMP.

Save as .xcf

1. gimp is stuff and it's not a file type
2. paint.net
select > delete key > done

select > delete key > done
I did that, it just appears white instead but on paint.net it's checkered.

Hey you, get out.

Checkered is transparent. In paint.net, save as PNG.

And so, it turns Black again.
In the image editor? Or are you viewing it somewhere else like on a website?

The Image Editor, I'd guess.
