Author Topic: Graphics Card  (Read 1596 times)

So for the past few weeks I've been looking into buying a new PC as an upgrade from my current (not so great) one.
At the moment the only thing I'm still primarily deciding on is a nice graphics card. I want something affordable that will run most new games at a good FPS. I've been looking at a Radeon 5770, 6850 or 6870 for the most part lately, and I'm leaning more towards the 6850. But I would just like some opinions from some people with more experience with this sort of thing.
I'm open to any opinions on my current choices, or suggestions for alternate choices that any of you may have.

Also any opinions on a decent keyboard? Don't think I want to pay more then around $150 for one.

I use a Radeon HD 6850. I run my games on all max settings with over 300FPS. I love the card. But you'll need space in your case, I swear.

And for keyboard and mouse, get the Logitech Wireless MK520 Combo. $60 on newegg and amazing.

I have a nice mouse, just looking for a keyboard.
Currently using a G9x

Then I don't know what to suggest for a keyboard alone. But the combo comes with a slick keyboard and a REALLY nice mouse.

You would have to be mentally handicapped to use a wireless keyboard and mouse with a gaming computer.

What are the rest of your specs? I wouldn't want to offer you something underpowered or overpowered.

The computer doesn't exist at the moment, so anything goes tbh. As long as it isn't too pricey (Less then $300)

I've got a 5850 and I love it. It's faster than the 6850, but has less tesselation support.

Your post confused me greatly. What are the specs of the computer that you are putting the card in?

This is the card I will be trying out on Tuesday. I hope that it's all I need to stabalize my PC so I can play STO again. I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

Heh, I remember getting this card as a replacement for an overheating card in 2004.

nvidia 9800gts $75 and runs all the newest games

I had dual 7600 gts, but not overclocked like those, and a simple game like WoW was unplayable in cities and large battlegrounds. Wouldn't count on it running STO that well.

Anyway on-topic, 5770s are still the best bang for the buck, but they are $150 and you said you can go up to $300, so if you really do want to max out that budget, a 5870 will be the best you can get for under $300.
