Author Topic: Is this a good Gaming Computer?  (Read 491 times)

My dad and I wanted to assemble a gaming computer for me, as it is going to be my birthday soon. We were thinking of using this case because it is compact and has good airflow.]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681113309]
I would put a mid range graphics card, 8 gigs of RAM, a mid range processor, and monitor/keyboard/mouse don't matter because I already have those. I would put a good, but cheap motherboard because this is a budget build to replace my crappy late 2007 macbook with 1 gig of RAM. I would like to be able to play most games on at least medium settings. I was thinking of a $500 build, and to do a proof-of-concept, I went on NewEgg and picked some things out and the price went in at about $475.  I am asking the forums because some of you have made computers before.

don't get a compact case, it'll bite you in the ass later

Desk is small, so I need it. This case is cheap, so I can just get another later if I need more room. See my logic?

Doesn't work?
I am asking if it is a good idea to build a highly upgradeable computer for $500, my first build. Kind of like a starter kit, so I can learn to build computers + keep upgrading this one when I need to.

For such a small budget build 8 GB of RAM is a twinge excessive I think.

he means the link, which gives an error

Yeah, won't link to the case for some reason.
