I personally would like to start banning for an hour, and if they bug me about being unbanned or they ask someone else to ask about unbanning them, I extend it to six hours... then 24 hours, then permanent. If you don't get the hint after the first one I'd rather not have you there. If you don't get it after three, you don't deserve to be there. But compared to most people it's still lenient.
