In many ways, yes. I died as a level 6 Celestial Explorer, taken down by five yellow sword-lizards, four green lizards, several elf things, three skeletons, a strange dinosaur-looking creature, and a giant floating eyeball (beholder?) all raping me at the same time.

Try exploring a little more instead of jumping straight into holes. I'm not even fighting giant floating eyeballs yet and I'm level 6.

I covered all of the levels except for one, which I had finished about halfway before realizing that the boss was too hard looking and ran away like a coward.
The creatures are randomized.

Yes, they are randomized, but there shouldn't be over 20 monsters in a room.

I also checked out "Celestial Explorer", and seen that it was probably a bad combination.

I modified my dude a bit.

Golem cursed.
Starts with 8 each stat, but 2 armor and 40 each resistance, and that awesome effect of having a random element each hit.

1. There were about 6 in one room that followed me to the next, in which there were 7-8 monsters
2. I was bored, and clicked "Randomize"
