That's happened on numerous occasions to me.
I don't know how I solved it, but it's a software problem, not hardware. Just reboot it many times and unplug it every 2 boots for a while. Eventually it should work again. :o

I'll try unplugging it, and leaving it for the night.
It worked fine this morning.

Which makes me ask, can you burn out the thing that reads the disk?

Go to system settings in your dashboard, then select memory, select the drive in question and if you can clear the cache, it will tell you to press Y. Scroll down the list to "clear system cache" press A and confirm option and voila!

My Video/audio harddrive got assforgeted. It works fine, but when I put the audio/video cord in it gets a red dash and a error message appers.

Plugged it in, and no disk was is, but it didn't click. Shoved in Black Ops, and it worked?
I'll bookmark this topic though. and keep posting more fixits incase.

my old ps3 pooped out on my after a year or two of playing it :(

thankfully i got a new one

also i've had my xbox for about a year and i play it all the time. no problems, yet

The problem with my xbox might just be a bad laser lens or I just need to clean it because it gets a lot of disc read errors even after I start to play a game.

If it's something to do with it not being able to read disks then you might as well buy a new xbox all together, the price is about the same as fixing it.

I started up my 360 and I hardly ever use it, i got 1 red ring, had to take HDD out and start it up, plugged it in and it worked fine after.

My Xbox has never RROD'd me. It's as simple as keeping it flat on it's surface, instead of standing up. That blocks off a vent.
