Author Topic: Help Brickybob Install Ubuntu On His "Restored" PC  (Read 1094 times)

I have a restored PC, but in the bios menu it says "USB Device (Not Installed.)"

It's a dell dimension 2400, with custom parts I added in.

Please, I know dell isn't the best computer manufacturer but I got this computer a while ago.

I put the CD in, but I don't think the trey works. :c

hao2fixusb

I've tried more than one usb.

If it helps, I'm stuck with using Arch Bang.

Check if the lens is messed up. :o
Spray some compressed air in there, but not directly at the laser.

If the tray doesn't work, then how did you put it in? That's what she said. :3

I meant the CD reader.

It makes a rumbling noise.

Also, I'm gonna try using wubi in wine.

Alright. Sounds good to me.

Take the hard drive out of another computer and install it in this.

I'll rip it out mortal combat style.

The only hard drive I can take out is an external one and has no usb ports.

Plus I don't know if Dell Dimension 2400's motherboard supports sata.

We worked on 2 Dimensions in computers class. I can inform you that they do not have any SATA ports, strictly IDE.

The only way I can think of doing this is through a DVD, but I don't think your drive is working

Well stuff,

Also, every usb I use I get the error
Code: [Select]
strike f1 to retry boot f2 for setup utility

it wont work if you just move the .iso to the usb, you need to use an iso burner.

of course you probably already knew this
