I've had a few goes at it, tried to duplicate the packaging of another weapon and that didn't work, I tried putting in small .PNGs of the colors and naming them accordingly, but I still can't get it to work. How am I meant to do this?

I model with Sketchup 7 but I export into Blender.

Then find a blender tutorial.
The search button is there for a reason.

Did you assign a mesh to a color? Did you name that color? Did you name the png's that color?
