"Society today is composed of a series of institutions. From political institutions, legal
institutions, religious institutions, to institutions of social class, familiar values, and
occupational specialization.

It is obvious the profound influence these traditionalized structures have in shaping our
understandings and perspectives. Yet, of all the social institutions we are born into,
directed by, and conditioned upon, there seems to be no system as taken for granted
and misunderstood as the monetary system.

Taking on nearly religious proportions, the established monetary institution exists as one
of the most unquestioned forms of faith there is. How money is created, the policies by
which it is governed, and how it truly affects society, are unregistered interests of the
great majority of the population.

In a world where 1% of the population owns 40% of the planet's wealth, in a world
where 34.000 children die every single day from poverty and preventable diseases and
where 50% of the world's population lives on less than 2 dollars a day one thing is
clear. Something is very wrong; and, whether we are aware of it or not, the lifeblood of
all of our established institutions, and thus society itself, is money.

Therefore, understanding this institution of monetary policy is critical to understanding
why our lives are the way they are. Unfortunately, economics is often viewed with
confusion and boredom. Endless streams of financial jargon, coupled with intimidating
mathematics quickly deters people from attempts at understanding it. However, the fact
is that the complexity associated with the financial system is a mere mask designed to
conceal one of the most socially paralyzing structures humanity has ever endured."

The purpose of this series of movies and the movement associated is to answer the questions we've all had at some point in our lives but probably dismissed. Questions like "why are there always poor and homeless while the upper classes sit in luxury?", "why doesn't there ever seem to be a legitimately progressive government?", "how is it that a miniscule portion of the world population owns such a great share of its wealth?" and "why are third-world countries, dramatically behind in terms of both technology and standard of living, doomed to remain so?"

If you're simply going to post something along the lines of tl;dr or not bother to take the time to understand the true ideals behind this movement, do not bother posting. This could very well change the way you think about society if you keep an open (but not stupid) mind about it throughout. The last Zeitgeist thread contained about 20 pages of misinformed posters attempting to pick apart the ideas of the Zeitgeist movement while clearly not understanding them and going by large part on the (incomplete and in retrospect misleading) information in the original post by Thar (who is now atheist, woo!) as well as bogus misinterpretations posted by other users attempting to discredit the movement. As such, replies made within a very short period of this thread's posting are very likely to be ignored.

Wasn't this declared as communism?

Didn't someone already post this handicapped bullstuff and then ragequit when we decimated every argument he posted because the whole idea is fundamentally broken and stupid.

Wasn't this declared as communism?

The proposed solution is NOT communism.

Didn't someone already post this handicapped bullstuff and then ragequit when we decimated every argument he posted because the whole idea is fundamentally broken and stupid.

Please attempt to understand an argument before you dissect it.

Yeah, and Amade was like the only one that supported it.

This movement obviously fails to see that greed and lust for power is a natural part of human nature. Many people with resources and stuff are not willing to share them. This is an extremely humanist movement which is bound to fail if applied even somewhat radically to our current, partially flawed system.

If we could do something about this, we would have already done it.
/dismissive statement

The third movie addresses this argument.

Please attempt to understand an argument before you dissect it.
That's exactly the type of idiotic response that I'd expect.

Read that thread.

Zeitgeist is socialism, not communism.

I hope this guy tries to defend it again so you can rip him a new star fish yuki.

I'm contemplating actually arguing, but this guy believes in this movement, so his skull is thicker than the plating on an M1 Abrams. Arguing would pretty much be a waste of time. Oh, and:

He's not old enough to comprehend philosophical and sociological information, so of course he believes in a broken system like Zeitgeist. Either that or he just wants to be edgy.

Here we go again....

though out of curiosity, I`ll watch the videos when I get the chance.

I doubt you could even summarize what the movement is about, but I'll assure you that thar is a very poor debater and you'll find more resistance in me, not that I care.

Wow you sure are a mature 16 year old.

Automated resource-based economy.

The original purpose of money was as a way to control human greed so that resources would be shared based on merit and work since people would not easily share essential and valuable resources with their fellow man. Taking away this system altogether would cause much instability.

Also, I am not going to watch 6 damn hours of movies just to be "educated" in a social/economic system which is massively biased against our current system and has repeated stuff such as "Careers are a pre-manufactured product by the government to automate our lives" and stuff like that.
