how do you edit animated avatars frame by frame?
Insert a new layer of the cow above each image. For otto's, I did this:

And then I merged down each cow image so that all the frames would have a cow imprinted on them. I actually make five copies of the cow template to make a total of six cow images, then imported them all at once and moved them to their appropriate places in the layers field. To help me, sometimes I visualize each frame layer by layer to move each cow to the appropriate place on the image before merging them down, and after merging it, I devisualize it and move on to the next.
