Author Topic: Badspot help me. I don't have my key.  (Read 2497 times)

Badspot, I noticed you restricted some of the boards lately. This is really good, and I think it was a great idea, but I don't have my key. You've probably gotten numerous emails from me about it, and I figured it was no big deal, but this sort of is.

Is there ANY way you can register my account for me or send my key to the email I registered with. Or do I HAVE to buy another key.

Please, Badspot.

Elaborating how I lost it: Mom's email that I got my key 2 1/2 years ago was deactivated because it was hosted by GoDaddy and an issue with a credit card and financial trouble led to it being closed down. I was stupid and never wrote it down, and all I have is my Key.dat

I looked in my mom's paypal, my dad's paypal, and my mom's amazon and I couldn't find it.

I could easily film myself opening blockland on my laptop which still has my key.dat file on it and sending you the movie if that's sufficient evidence of my identity...?

1.  It's your responsibility to keep track of your own key and email.  If you lose one or both it is your problem.

but a key.dat file might not even be yours :o

its not necessarily proof.

Is video evidence good enough...? I don't think I could edit video well enough to make it convincingly look like another person's Blockland.

I know, but it was my mom's email and there was nothing I could do to stop it... It's not even in the emails that were saved and not lost...

I really regret not writing down my key :/

i have never even attempted looking at the key.dat file. never had a need to move or copy it lol. having the key itself copy pasted to a doc i store seems good enough.

isnt there a way to view the txt from the dat?
or is it just the same ol no dat love as one would expect.

Also wouldn't a great idea be to have like a show key button that you can press after successfully entering in your key, and it will show what your key is?

It would stop tons of people from losing their keys.

I remember in the first version of blockland for mac that I had when I bought the game in 2008 or 2007 actually had the key inside of the key.dat

I looked for that in my mom's computer where I used to play Blockland and I couldn't find it.

Weird thing though, I could have swore my mom never erased all her emails, and I had the one from Badspot set to highest priority = never erase.

I'm gonna go look again and hope that I can find it.

Nevermind, I'm obviously not going to get my key back ;_;
I guess I'll just buy another. Luckily I have a nice stash of money under my bed.

Oh, another question.

Badspot, if I give you 20$ can I just have my original key back and you can keep the 20$?

does nobody
and I mean NOBODY
keep their key in a .txt file
because this happens way too often and its becoming bullstuff

I misjudged the safety of owning an email address ;_;

When my mom get's home, I'm going to get a new key and register with it.

When you get your new key post what your ID is. You don't want people yelling at you for "being an imposter".

Yes it is.

Turn the key.dat into the key (Badspot probably knows how)

The first section of the Key contains the BL ID of the user.

BL ID + BL Name + Forum Name = It's his key

no because anyone can copy paste that file and use it.
