Author Topic: Why do people produce photographs depicting themselves in grayscale so often?  (Read 2398 times)

I do not understand the significance, is it supposed or intended to express some profound appreciation or nostalgic emotions towards the inferior photographic technology of the last century? Someone explain to me the purpose behind people subjecting themselves to the effort to actually decrease the quality of their photographs, for example, for a profile picture, for example, on facebook.
Just wondering.

they're emo friends

because it's "cool" and it will make them seem "artsy"

though I may have been more correct the first time.

they're emo friends
So people decrease the quality of depictions of them as a way to express that they do not believe they are 'worthy' of a higher quality picture for emotional gratification? Quite strange indeed.
Or that other thing you said.

honestly, yes, this is really the only reason that comes to my mind.

Think about what you're asking here.

Think about what you're asking here.
Why someone desires to do something?
Seems a valid inquiry to me.

Congrats Sirrus, you are now cool and artsy.

Oh the predictable irony.

To see the shapes rather than the colours

To see the shapes rather than the colours
So what, you can't tell me the shape of something unless you reduce it's quality?
I must say, that might be some sort of medical condition.
