I hate how Science-Fiction movies always get pushed aside, often only getting Art Direction and Makeup awards, if anything at all. Remember District 9? Oh Holy Hell, the special effects were Goddamn brilliant I'd swear the Poleepkwa(Prawns, aliens) were really there, I stuff you not. Though, Avatar did get that award, so I guess they didn't completely disregard Sci-Fi that year. Back in 2005, Revenge of the Sith got out-nominated by Brokeback Mountain, with, of course, one nomination in Makeup. Narnia, King Kong, and War of the Worlds were the only things nominated Special Effects, despite Ep. III having amazing visuals. Back in '89, Sigourney Weaver in Aliens got beat by Marlee Matlin in Children of a Lesser God. Now, I gotta admit that Marlee did extremely well for a deaf person, but I felt that Sigourney played her own part in Aliens better, no bias for Sci-Fi.

Dude. Inception won, like, 4 Oscars.
That's pretty good- It got Best special effects, best sound mixing, best Original Score(HELL YEAH), some other award. That's recognition. And The King's Speech was FANTASTIC, though I personally like Inception more. So the Sci-Fi's don't "always get pushed aside".

This is just me, but im kindof surprised HTTYD didnt win anything. I at least thought itd win best score or whatever itwas called.

Inception's Score >x1000 HTTYD Score.

But, have there been any Best Picture or Best Screenplay awards on a Science-Fiction film? All my searching so far has got nothing.

Maybe the movie that won Best Picture was better than the Science Fiction movie?
I've seen terrible movies in every genre- It doesn't always matter, bro.

I agree. D9 was on a low budget and was so beautiful, yet Avatar, everything was so obviously CGI'd. I raged when it didn't win

because continual BUUUHHHMMMMing is better than awesome orchestral music. Just my opinion.

He's an starfish.
