Lauren Faust is smarter then that, to make a show just for little girls. Instead of getting parents to scowl at the saccharine-dripping girlishness, she made it appealing to all ages. The original show was what this show was not, and look how many fans it acquired. Little to none. Friendship is Magic achieved much more success.
