No, it's worse. They're straight up animals. They aren't even trying to anthropomorphize them beyond giving them the ability to talk.

At what point does anthropomorphism turn an animal into a furry? The ponies in the show have no bodily anthropomorphization and if they're furries because they act like humans then that means that the millions of animals on Earth that can emulate emotions and personalities we deem as being "human" are also furries.
