You can't get banned for anything in PMs, unless the recipient was not willing to receive the contents.
In which case you are only banned if the person reported you, and were I to report you, you would have nothing to worry about, as I told you it was okay.
Usually people who get their PMs restricted had it done so by sending spam, anyway.
