Author Topic: Youtube and VEVO  (Read 1378 times)

I honestly can't see why people have to freak out over Vevo on the music videos. Other than the ads and the censorship I honestly don't see whats so bad.

I really just think its a bandwagon thing and people just say what others do.
Please tell me what I am missing.

I have to go and find another video of X because my foreign friend is too lazy to look for it himself.

Just search any song and usually there will be a video and the owner would be (Artist name here)VEVO

I am not going to post 50 examples...

Are you trying to start stuff?
"my foreign friend is too lazy".

No, not really. I just want to know what I am missing here.

>check out a rap video on vevo
>HEY VEVO GTFO, THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

>check out a R&B music video on vevo
>I LOVE THIS SONG, THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

Since Youtube joined "the man", nobody can post music by WMA, or get beaten by e-sticks and banhammers.

Oh, now I get it. So no more videos by average people or they get beaten by the man.

last i checked as long as you gave credit in the description of your video you could use copyrighted music

but i could be wrong.

I think VEVO only applies to music videos, anything else like background music should be fine if you gave credit.

As long as it's fair use.

Fair use isn't just giving credit, you're only allowed to use 30 seconds or less of a song.  However you may do multiple songs.

i saw this music video for a third eye blind song that vevo attacked

the soundtrack is now "Bodies".

i forget what video though, it was loving hilarious

There's nothing actually wrong with VEVO, it's just the idea (for me at least) of a website that used to be about individuals sharing their content and favorite content of others with other users. Now, it's all being processed through corporations, which takes away the individuality.

You can use music if you give credit and if it's for non-commercial use. But they will put an ad in the video is how it goes I think.

I honestly can't see why people have to freak out over Vevo on the music videos. Other than the ads and the censorship I honestly don't see whats so bad.
