I'm pretty sure every Mac comes with Garageband. This is a superb utility for music and voice recording, especially if you want to do a little tweaking with your recording. However this will export to MP3 or ACC. You could use a program like Quicktime (the pro edition) to convert to .WAV, or even a 3rd party program thats really old called QTAmateur which lets you convert sounds and video freely in bulk too.
If that process doesn't float your boat, you could just download Audacity. It can convert file formats, or you can use it to record and edit new sound and save it to wave. Its free too of course.
