Author Topic: Need a new graphic card  (Read 1470 times)

Yeah, well

A lot of newer games that I get on Steam are kinda... draggy (specially TDU2, I can't even drive without a delay on turning...) and the graphics are horrendous. Any game I play has to be on set on the lowest graphic setting to make it playable, which makes the game less "fun" (in my opinion of course). I think a new graphic card will do the trick, but the problem is that I'm not very "techy". I'm not sure which graphic card I should buy, or even how to really pop one in to my computer.

Anyone have any idea on what kind of graphic card I should buy, or even outside knowledge I show know on this subject? It would be much appreciated, thanks.

Before we continue, we need to find out what type of connectings you have, do u have PCI, PCI Express, PCI X 2.0, etc

After you got that, depending on what you have we can go to the next step: memory size. Untill then, find out the connection typeP

I hate to quote Wiicigarettes on this, but Graphics ≠ More fun

Anyways, What are your specs? Ram, processor, current video card, etc.

o_o

Christ, I'm a dumbass.
I'm all ready lost...

Just tell us what your video card right now is. All newer graphics cards will use PCI-E 2.0 16x, idk what shock was thinking when he said "PCI X 2.0" lol

it's really easy to put a new one in though, you just take out your old one and plug the new one in, then plug in the power.

How can I check without busting open my computer?
Its 9:30 here, and I'm in no mood to be busting computers opened.

Oh, that's good news.

Open run
Type in Dxdiag
When it opens, click display.
Under device should be your graphic card's name.

I believe this is my graphics card...

ATI Radeon HD 3450

Well how old is ur PC?

Maybe... about 3 years, maybe 2.

My computer is a Dell Studio 540 if that helps,

I can just type up all the information that the DirectX Diagnostic Tool thing gives me if that helps.

Just print screen it.
