Author Topic: Dollar/penny auctions are scams. (Swoopo, beezid, you know it).  (Read 1505 times)

Do not ever fall into horrible scams like swoopo and beezid.

What happens is you need to pay for bids which means the website has a bot that automatically bids and makes you pay more then you would then just buying the item in a store.

0.60 for 300 bids = 250 $ for a 150$ item.

don't ever ever loving register on these websites.

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dollar_auction

This should be illegal.

As long as this doesn't cover this in the TOS when you register to those websites go ahead and strike up a protest.

Additional info:

Go on beezid.com and watch all these suckers get ripped off.

They are auctioning off bid packs for 100 bids, which are 70.00$ flat, yet people are bidding on them and from what I see, because the timer goes up on every bid, the second goes down about once every minute, and because it was a 30 minute timer, these people payed 200.00$ for an item selling on the website for 70.00$.

Like I said, this should be illegal.

Also, if 5 people are bidding, you could pay up to 500+ dollars for that.

This is one of the smartest scams I've seen in a long time.

Not to mention, there's also the high-pressure scam portion that you keep bidding more and more because you'll lose all the money you spent buying bids if you don't win, which means you pay assloads more to the website then you would just buying it on retail.

Separate ideas.

You have a point. Stay on topic though :(

no
we're too superior for a button

But it'll get mad and push me off. :c

http://www.quibids.com
friend thinks hes getting all good stuff here
but he's not, he got ripped off
ipod for like 300 bids which are 60 cents each

You're a fool if you believe it in the first place. You'll never get anything super cheap not unless its from a retailer and they'll only ever drop the price %10, to expect any lower and you'll never get it.
