Someone please come up with an intelligent argument about why the awful stuff that that article details (collapse of Netflix, strictly rationed bandwidth) won't happen, or why it won't be nearly as bad as what they describe, otherwise stuff's scary. Here's the best counterargument I could come up with.

Once and if bandwidth caps fall to a level where it would affect large swaths of the market, like, it would inhibit people's day to day activities, what's to stop a company from removing their bandwidth cap or a new ISP starting that doesn't have bandwidth caps? Pissed off customers would flock to that ISP, and then they control the customers and the money.

Broadband Reports was the first to learn, and has confirmed with AT&T, that the company will be implementing a new 150GB monthly usage cap for all DSL customers and a new 250 GB cap on all U-Verse users starting on May 2

well considering all cable lines are leased to only 1 cable company within an area every few years, and recontacted out to another bidder few years later exclusively.
and considering all phone lines are leased to only 1 phone company within an area every few years, and recontacted out to another bidder few years later exclusively.
and considering for some reason there is only ever 1 dish media company offering internet with no competition.
