Elfen Leid's story was basically this:
There's a race of demon people with horns, that look suspiciously like cat ears, that everyone hates because as we all know Japan is a bunch of xenophobes. Oh, also, they're all chicks. The one dude demon gets hacked to pieces at some point.
Now, these women have a very unfortunate condition: They can only wear clothes made of paper that fall apart in the rain. This causes them to run around naked the entire series. Oh, also, the Government likes to keep them in incubator tubes totally naked.
and uh, stuff happens. Something about a bounty hunter. Something about prosthetics that they can adapt to use with their imaginary tentacle arms in under an hour.
Then the littlest girl, probably about 7 (who you also get to see naked, for all the child enthusiasts out there considering this anime) explodes, much to the dismay of the girl that really loves the person torturing her.
Oh and the girl that savagely murdered the protagonist's entire family confesses this fact to the protagonist and he gets over it pretty fast.
10/10 perfect anime
