How do you explain what a furry is to an 11 year old girl that is your classmate/youlike?
Just say, so long as you're not describing yourself, people who like images of human like animals.
And leave it at that.
Anymore, and you risk looking like a freak for knowing more.
If you've been asked, just plainly asked, say you don't know.
If you've mentioned it and then she's asked about more, don't deny saying it, or it'll sound like an embarassing secret to do with yourself.

Now you've just gone and completely outed your knowledge of it.
I don't truly know what I'd do in your situation.
Just ignore it.
Since I'm guessing that this happened earlier on, and you've left from that situation without explaining to search for advice, don't bring it up.
She's not going to pester you about it.
And if she does, just say that that's a name for those sorts of pictures.
No need to alienate your friend.
