Yeah, a degree in computer engineering gets you a great job assembling circuit boards in a clean factory somewhere, not designing cutting-edge electronics on huge corporate grants. マホ~
I never said that neither. Stop asking like I'm handicapped and that I don't know what I'm talking about.

in before PTSD.
Seriously, I'm guessing if you DO join, you'll be like stuff awesome man for the first few days, then it becomes a job, and after you're sent home you have ptsd. nice choice.

Don't you mean acting?

Since I am in electrical and computer engineering I was considering joining up with the Air Force since they would give me E-7 pay for two years for doing nothing, a security clearance, and officer training for a four year commitment after I graduate.

Wait, really?

Oh, actually it's E-3 pay but I remember the rep saying you get additional money meant for paying rent but it can be spent however you want. It's called the Technical Degree Sponsorship Program.

2 years of getting paid for nothing... how much for nothing?

It's about $1700 monthly for E-3 and the extra rent money is dependent on average housing costs for where you attend school.

dont join the army
dont join the marines.

thats all you need to know

I must proceed to pound my head on the nearest hard flat surface to express my amazement.
I live under rocks and such. What am I missing out on. :c Now instead of being a hard working citizen of society I can get a job where I can twiddle my thumbs talk on this forum and get paid to do it.

Well first you need to be within two years of graduation of an electrical or computer engineering bachelors degree.

You can probably get a better salary in the private sector if you're halfway decent, but the pay at O-1 when you graduate isn't bad and having military leadership experience like that and the security clearance can net you all tons of engineering jobs after your commitment is up.

Don't worry, I lick 9 volt batteries as a hobby.

no.
join the military if you have no other options, but i would highly avoid it unless you plan on going into one of the logistics/paper pusher positions. you do not want to be anywhere near combat.

Ive been thinking of joining the military but my mom would go crazy if I did she is overprotective .
