Author Topic: My computer is forgeted up  (Read 744 times)

I'm just browsing the forums on my laptop right now, because my desktop is really forgeted up. It has no sound, the stereos are fine, but the computer won't do what it's suposed to do. When I try to turn the sound up on the computer it says I don't have the hardware to do so. Also, Avast! Antivirus keeps saying schvost.exe is a virus and it keeps trying to delete it. I can barely open anything because the computer usage is 95-100%, but I managed to get malwarebytes up and i'm doing a full scan. I hate using this laptop because it's pretty old and it's gonna in like 5 months.

Avast! Antivirus is great

One of my scvhosts is the audio driver on my computer, which means a virus infected your audio driver.

I can't tell if that's sarcasm.

Avast! freaking sucks and my parents won't let me get rid of it.

I was being serious. I have gotten several viruses and Avast! deleted them in no time.

1. Open task manager
2. Right click schvost.exe
3. "Open file location"
4. End schvost.exe process
5. Quickly delete schvost.exe from its file location

EDIT: This is a little technique that Malwarebytes' fileASSASSIN uses.

Avast! isn't intrusive or anything, and has saved me two times within the past 4 years (cuz I hardly ever get viruses). I've used Avast on other people's PC's when I've had to fix it, and it's picked up everything that was on their PC's.

I think your parents are doing you a favor by having Avast! instead of Norton or McAfee or some horrible antivirus that won't work properly.

Even if your parents let you get rid of it, there actually is no way to get rid of it. The version I had long ago anyways.

But I prefer to just not use any AV. Waste of processing.

svchost is a system process, and there's a whole bunch of them.

And what if he's using XP? You can't open file location with it.

svchost.exe is a system process, however "schvost.exe" is likely a virus.

:c

Anyway, I am using XP.

I didn't know how to spell it.

There's a chance it was a typo, which is what I'm assuming.

Well damn.

EDIT: Ah, I see.
