Scripting language. You can't compile it.
And it's a lot slower at run time then actual programming languages.

Hell, it suits my needs, and I've been using it for a long time and I'm pretty acquainted with it.

Probably not going to switch anytime soon.

EDIT: Crashed again. I think I crash whenever it gets max population:

I didn't edit the file at all.

It's a forgetup in the second base, I really should get to fixing that stuff and release v3 later :/
