As much as I love the VCE, I disagree. It's too complex for beginners.
I always liked the simplicity of default add-ons. Makes servers like Badspot's Lag Party interesting.
Once again. There will never be anymore default add-ons, other than bricks. Why? Because all the current default addons are examples used for coding in Blockland. We need no more examples, therfore Badspot will not add them unless a very good example is needed.

Because I have broadband, you see. It appears that I could really only port foward with a router that we own while we don't own ours.
