Author Topic: Brick style vehicles.  (Read 8821 times)

Now being a decent 3Ds Max modeler, i'd like to have a go at making a small Brick-style sedan.
And no, not the SUPER REALISTIC huge ones, just a small one, compact and all.
But for exporting? i'd need someone to process it through Milkshape for me.

Don't export through Milkshape, it is awful for vehicles. You could probably ask some people that work with 3dsmax to help you setting up the exporter.

I was beginning to wonder about this myself.

Thing is, milkshake is the only thing the forum cares about, there's zero documentation on anything for 3Ds Max, and most of the torque exporters are broken/don't have a guide.

There are documents on garagegames, but there aren't many on Blockland itself.  I use 3DS Max for Blockland, and I can export to .dts.  The problem is that almost all the .dts exporters are flawed in some form and it requires a lot of trial and error to get something exported correctly.

Another issue, it sometimes goes through people. Reactor worker said it could be a collision mesh issue.

The shadow for the car roof is pointy like an icecream cone.

And... is there suppose to be no stud texture under the glass window?

How often does this happen?
This sort of thing happens with many vehicles, if it doesn't kill the player first.

This will change depending on the lighting of the map, unfortunately Milkshape 3D exports the shadow of the collision mesh and not the vehicle.
I will try to fix it.

Fixed.

Happens almost all the time if I hit someone directly from the front of the car or back. This may happen to a lot of vehicles but this happens more often than the average vehicle.

Oh and speaking of which apparently you float if you are on the hood of the car or trunk if you are standing on it.

This happens to other vehicles as well.
Nice work on the car, I can't wait to see the results.

Meh.

The final pieces are a nice collision mesh, and a texture for the hubs.
After that, if no other bugs are found, we should be ready for a release.

Two new brick vehicles!

Limo!

All questions about these new vehicles go to blastdown who clearly made them.

Blastdown was using the exact same base model from Google images as i was going to use, bummer. oh well.
I'm still trying to export to DTS from 3Ds Max.
