Author Topic: Barack Obama -> Facing possible impeachment.  (Read 7114 times)

Actually, he does need permission. The United States led the UNITAF mission, but its troops were withdrawn when Congress invoked the War Powers Act.

In your opinion. What is and is not a "serious threat" to the United States can be rather broadly interpreted. Reagan thought Gaddafi was a serious threat back in 1986 when he ordered a strike without congressional approval, and Gaddafi is still a threat today.
They both should have gotten approval (if they didn't).
I'm not saying we should impeach Obama but we need to respect the constitution.
Other presidents have done this and I think it's about time we draw the line about this stuff.
It's not like Gaddafi is just going to up and declare war on the US, sure he poses a threat but so do a lot of other countries. Just because we "think he might be a threat" doesn't mean we should go in guns blazing. I think Obama sent in armed forces mainly to help the civil war going on which really isn't our business. There are plenty of people in the US that could use the money spent on those bombs. How about we use the money to create jobs, help starving people, and other things. Just my opinion.

Bill Clinton was impeached on a charge of perjury (I'm sure some of you can remember it) and the other president was Andrew Johnson. I don't remember what he got impeached for, probably because he showed up to his inauguration drunk and then said god wanted Lincoln to be assassinated.

Didn't Nixon get impeached?

Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but the constitution says that congress is the only one that can declare war (important point). The US Military is acting as a force of the UN. As of now the United states has not declared war against them, we are just enforcing the UN no-fly. The US is not at war with them, the UN is. As part of our membership with the UN we are obligated to assist them. Thus the US has not declared war on anyone, only the UN has, so Obama doesn't need permission from anyone to lead his troops.

In any event if you guys think this would get anyone impeached then your a bunch of idiots. Bush did the same thing (invaded Iraq), along with many others. Hope y'all enjoy Glen Beck, be sure to grab your Iodine tablets and stockpile ammo.

Wasn't he at threat for impeachment?

I will lol if the first black president gets impeached.

Hope y'all enjoy Glen Beck, be sure to grab your Iodine tablets and stockpile ammo.
I heard him talking about the Japanese earthquake. What the stuff could he have been going on about?

He promised us stuff but never gave us what he promised. :C

Nixon is my favorite president because
1. he has an X in his last name
2. he's a loving SPY

Does anyone really know who exactly makes these decisions in the UN?
Do all the members?

I hope he gets impeached. We get a better president to do this kind of stuff.

ZB

I don't know if this has already been said, but Obama is by no means the first president to send troops into a nation without congress giving the go-ahead.
In fact, the entire Vietnam war was never declared a war by congress, it was simply the president deciding that he wanted  send the troops to fight there.

The UN Secuirty Council does.
