Author Topic: Odd question: 1 license two people? (temporarily)  (Read 2334 times)

Hi

I have an odd question.

I'm trying to get my sister, who's now lives some distance from me, to start playing blockland.
We used to play Lego together and I want to demonstrate the merits of Blockland so we can start building together again.

But the best way for me to do that would be inside a multiplayer game.
I was actively searchihng for a Lego like Computer game and had a good deal of patience for learning how to play and use Blockland.
But at this stage my sister is not looking for such a game, she's a somewhat interested, but I suspect she's partially humouring me as well.
So I don't trust her to fully explore the game (building eventing etc..) without me showing her around, and giving her a sense of what multiplayer could be like.

I have my own Blockland Serial/Key and I'm wondering if there is anyway for me to somehow get her to connect to my server, despite not being on the same LAN.
I don't need her to connect to any other online game, just mine and it would only be temporary.
Once I get her excited I'm positive she'll get a license soon.

I'm just looking for suggestions, (nothing ilegal) I'm not sure if there is any way for us to connect but I thought it might be worth asking.

You never know right?

Thanks for your time

Couldn't you just buy her one of her own?

Does Hamachi work for this? Idk if it does (Prove me wrong) but Hamachi is pretty much having your LAN network over the internet. She would be able to connect to your PC as if it was right next to yours. Its legal and its free and both you guys can play.

Give it a shot and tell me how it goes :P

I'm quite sure it works, although when I heard this, it was way before last year. Although I doubt it, it may of stopped working with the latest versions.

Either way, its worth a try.

Except for the fact that it tears authentication to pieces.

If the key is used by two different internet IP addresses it will be deactivated, I think. No idea about hamachi.

No, but it will give an error.

How far to LAN servers extent to? Distance-wise.

If she is in your 'range', you can host a LAN server with your full key, and she can join and can do everything you can do, without using a key. Badspot implemented this feature for a reason.

What? LAN means they're on the same network. That normally means in the same house.

I didn't think that demo games could play LAN anymore...

She's going to have to buy her own key to play online with you - she is not on your network (assuming "some distance from me" means she's not in your house) and key sharing could result in your key being deactivated.

I don't know what the others in this thread are talking about. Ignore the idiots telling you Hamachi would work.

I use this allot or my minecraft servers.
What I think it does is it allows you to connect to each others IP with out port forwarding.
So this has no use hosting Bl servers.

It works fine for BL server hosting. But that's not what this is about.

The only way around this is key sharing, which is not a good idea. Either that or getting her to come to your house and see for herself. Other than those two, you have to buy a key.
