Author Topic: AT&T to Impose Data Caps on DSL, U-Verse Customers Starting May 2  (Read 6783 times)

only problem is just by being connected to broadband internet you are currently downloading and uploading information all the time there fore reaching your cap quicker also add three computers linked by router and tv and game consoles, all at once doing that, it probably won't take that long at all

tl;dr I don't know what I'm talking about probably, someone educate me, even I can be open minded at times.

you guys are overestimating your internet usage.

you guys are overestimating your internet usage.

90 up in this bitch.

And I only got my internet in February at my new house, and I average about 3 GB everyday.

...so how is a 150GB limit bad? And even if you went over, it's only $10 for another 50GB...

This isn't as bad as you think. Yeah, "unlimited" sounds a lot better to the ears than a cap, but I doubt you will use 150GB (DSL) or 250GB (U-Verse) in a month. Unless all you do is go to game servers where you have to download tons of stuff just to play/watch a ton of youtube videos daily.

I'm not even a heavy PC gamer and I already clock up 90 GB, even though I play my ps3 alot.

There not doing this to ripoff customers. Its because their network load is close to reaching their maximum capacity. The limits are going to keep getting smaller and smaller until they do a total upgrade to their systems.

file download sizes do not add to the cap right?

It's called being a stupid lazy starfish and not upgrading anything, if it needs an upgrade at all.

EVERY TIME WE SWITCH ISP stuff LIKE THIS loving HAPPENS.

all [ I ] do is go to game servers where [ I ] have to download tons of stuff just to play/watch a ton of youtube videos daily. Also I use Netflix a stuff ton, as well as XBL, Hulu, and torrents

I hate everything.

They're doing it because customers were ripping THEM off and using way more data than ATT thought they would.

You guys have it good. In NZ, the biggest data cap we can get is 25gb. It costs $30 for that. Each time you go over, it's another $30 for 25gb.
They tried unlimited but the ISP went bankrupt so yeah.

They should disconnect the really really really nigh-on inactive users instead of limiting general population.

If you're expecting somebody not to use a lot THEN GIVE HIM A UNLIMITED PLAN.

He doesn't need an unlimited plan. That makes no sense.

If they're "nigh-on inactive" that means they're hardly using any internet anyway, and disconnecting them wouldn't do any real good. That also makes no sense.
