Hmm... that's tempting. Idk though, I'm across the house and down a floor from my router. I'll have to read some reviews of USB adapters, and see what I think.

Mine was like $7 and I stepped on it like 4 times caz it only works on the front USB ports, I knocked the plastic right off, and it still runs perfectly from upstairs and 50 feet away when the router is downstairs under a desk.

I think I might get one of those, then.

Anyways, I carried everything upstairs and plugged it into my router. I got my drivers updated and downloaded some stuff, Minecraft included. The integrated graphics can't even handle minecraft with everything on the lowest settings, lol. Can't wait to get a new GPU...

i have the same exact desktop, but from HP

Windows 7 is a bit too new for something like this. Install XP instead.

My school has hundreds of those.
And I hate them.

Wow, every time you give computer advice it's completely stupid. Why would I install XP? I had it on there, it sucked. XP was good in it's time, now it is old and needs to die. People who get defensive about XP are just too damn poor to afford an up-to-date OS. W7 runs great on this, there's no reason not to have it.

If you're going to tell me to use an old, ugly OS, at least give me a reason to.

I think he said so because it's less strenuous on an older computer.

But it ran fine on a 3 GHz P4-model Optiplex that I had a while ago.
It should be plenty fine for a 3.4 GHz model.

It's not strenuous at all... my CPU handles it just as well as it handled XP. The only difference is that W7 uses more RAM, but I have 2Gb and that's plenty. My RAM usage hasn't gone above, like, 40% yet. I even said I'm going to be upping it to 4Gb. I'm fine with people giving me advice, as long as they don't pull it out their ass.

XP uses less system resources. Instead of forking out money on computer components that you can't use on your new computer, use a less resource-intensive operating system. If Windows 7 runs 'great' on your computer, XP will fly. Also, insulting people by their economical situation (wich you don't know anything about) isn't a great way to argue.
Eww, fat monitor.
Because the size of a monitor is more important than color vibrance and image quality. LCD's are very sharp in their optimum resolution, but anything below that turns the image into a smudgy piece of stuff.

CRT monitors are actually way clearer than LCDs and a lot of gamers go out of their way to get them, when my CRT finally broke down and I switched to LCD it was hard adjusting to how blurry it was, CRTs are so sharp and clear.

what the hell are you talking about?
and i dont care if XP will run faster, W7 is as fast as anyone could want and tons, tons better than XP.

What is the power supply wattage?
