Got it today :P

Dell OptiPlex GX620 (Yes I know it sucks, you don't need to tell me :P )

Specs:
Pentium 4 HT 3.4Ghz (1 physical core, 2 "logical" cores)
2Gb of RAM
bla bla bla. thats the most important stuff.

The tower was $100, keyboard/mouse was $15, monitor was $5. Total $120 :D

Planned upgrades:
Well I already installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, runs great.
I REALLY need a wireless adapter card so I can connect to the internet. (Gonna pick one up after I get my tax return this week/get my paycheck this week)
Radeon HD 4670 to run some games.
2 more gigs of RAM.
A 1Tb hard drive.
A lot of the things I upgrade it with (HDD, wireless adapter, things like that) I'll use when I finally build my real computer.

Since I can't connect to the internet, I can't update my drivers. So I have no audio or video stuffs. Blockland won't even launch :P

more importantly; how did you aquire said computer, which is 120 but has:
1tb
3.4ghz processor
4g ram
5 dollar monitor?!?!?

Lol, my school purchases those computers in bulk, although not the monitor
The monitor is larger

no no no
I'm GOING to buy a 1tb hdd
i'm GOING to add 2 more gigs of ram so its 4gigs
but yeah 3.4gz processor. its still not a good processor though, only 1 physical core. some of the older processor have high clock speeds but aren't as efficient/have less cores. like this one for example.
the monitor is temporary, once i have more money i'll pick up a nice one.

your better off getting a new PC with how much thats gonna cost
1tb hd last time i checked was in the 300's

hahha. you must have checked YEARS ago. You can get a Western Digital (high-end brand) 1tb for like $70-80. and like i said, the point is that i will transfer it over to my real pc once i build it. so it wont just be wasting $75 on this computer, itll transfer over to the new one.

i checked yesterday
but w/e bro
where did you get this PC

I owned a Dell Optiplex 320.

To get the RAM to 4 GB, you'll need to buy two 2 GB sticks (the 320 had only two RAM slots, assuming this one does too)

Also, don't try to upgrade the processor from a Pentium 4 to a Core 2 Duo (both socket 775). You'll end up bricking the BIOS because it wasn't meant to handle dual-core processors apparantly.

You are either extremely bad at shopping, or are just lieing.
computer was off eBay
keyboard was newegg
monitor i got locally, people put ads up on this site and yeah

GX620 has 4 DIMMs, so im just going to buy 2 more 1gb sticks. I thought about upgrading the processor, but meh. it wouldnt be worth spending the money IMO since this is just a temporary computer. thanks for letting me know though.

edit: miga maybe you'll now, i could find out with a little googling but may as well ask something with experience :P if the RAM in there right now is 533Mhz (or whatever), can I put 667 MHz in the other channel? or do both channels have to have matching speeds?

What's the difference between 32 and 64 bit?

Most motherboards can have RAM of different speeds.  I'm not sure if they all do which is why I said 'most'.

In my experience, different RAM speeds just spells trouble and forgetups in performance.  On my old desktop build I had a Core 2 duo 2.66 GHz, 9800GT and two 1GB sticks at 667 MHz and one 2GB stick at 800 MHz.  GTA4 ran like stuff, lowest settings, 20-25 FPS.  Took out the 2GB stick, ran amazing and so much faster (somehow) at 40 FPS but still on low.

64-bit can handle more RAM. 32-bit can only use like a little over 3Gb or something, it runs out of address space.

Ah okay. I'll make sure to get matching speeds then, just to be safe.

I have an even cheaper one and it can run just as fast as your internet can go, hardline I DL at like 1.8 mb/s with an even cheaper one of those I DL at 1.6 mb/s. Always maximum connection strength from about 50 feet away. Incase you were thinking of wasting money on a PCI wireless card.

Actually this one is way smaller and has way better feedback http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833180066

Hmm... that's tempting. Idk though, I'm across the house and down a floor from my router. I'll have to read some reviews of USB adapters, and see what I think.
